Chandelier of the Tulipan model manufactured by the renowned company Kalmar Franken in the 1960s.

The chandelier consists of a white frame that carries 11 tulip-shaped elements in Murano crystal glass. These were made by AZ Mazzega and each glass was hand-blown using the pulegoso technique. This creates small bubbles in the glass, which spreads a beautiful light and makes each glass unique.

The chandelier is in good vintage condition with the glass completely intact.

The metal frame has probably been repainted in the same colour at some point, but this is not noticeable when the chandelier is hanging up. The original manufacturer's sticker is still present on the frame .

During his career, Austrian designer JT Kalmar designed lighting fixtures for many renowned architects, as well as for important institutions, e.g. the Vienna Opera and the Vienna Stock Exchange. In the last decade of his life, Kalmar developed a number of very popular lighting collections, including Tulipan (ca. 1960), Ice Glass (1960) and Atomic (1969).

Kalmar lighting can be found in prominent locations around the world, including the RMS Queen Mary 2, the Kremlin Presidential Palace in Moscow and the Burj Tower in Dubai.
