Set of 2 armchairs and matching rare coffee table designed by architect Rainer Schell in 1964. This minimalist furniture was manufactured by the German manufacturer Franz Schlapp Möbel.
The name of the chair is Shell Chair with the original model no. 320. The set comes from the Canto Collection.
The seats have a cubist shaped structure in solid wood where the seat in sturdy and thick saddle leather is created by the shape of the frame. This offers a pleasant seating comfort. Both the chairs and the coffee table have a nice size and are light in weight which also makes it a practical set.
The set is in very nice vintage condition. The leather has acquired a nice patina over the years with light age and use related wear. It shows some light stains that are not disturbing and give the chairs a personal look.
Rainer Schell was a master student of Egon Eiermann, one of Germany's leading architects in the second half of the 20th century.
