Space Age chest of drawers 'DF 2000' designed by Raymond Loewy in 1965. This original piece of furniture was manufactured by the French company Doubinsky Frères.
The chest of drawers was made of wood with an outer layer of plastic that rests on a metal base. On one side there are 2 drawers, each covering half the depth. The other side has a full-depth slider (see photo for clarification).
The furniture is in beautiful vintage condition with signs of wear that are typical of its age. A panel with handle is also slightly tilted, but this does not affect the opening and closing of the drawer.
The manufacturer's original DF-2000 sticker is present inside as a sign of authenticity.
This is without a doubt a timeless vintage piece of furniture that still appeals to design enthusiasts!
Raymond Loewy won his first prize at the Gordon Bennett Aeronautical Cup at the age of 15. After moving to the United States in 1919, he became a window dresser in New York and then a fashion illustrator for Vogue. He subsequently became artistic director of Westinghouse, after which he founded his own design agency and worked for major brands such as Shell, Coca-Cola, Loreal, LU and Monoprix. He designed, among other things, the pack of Lucky Strike cigarettes (1940) and the cutlery for the Air France Concorde flights.
